Lakevias Daniel, DB UFL Showcase Player Highlight

His name is Lakevias Daniel he is the son of Lakendrick Daniel and Stephanie Sangster. Growing up in Louisville, Mississippi he would play high school football and help lead his team to a state title game as a senior.

Lakevias Daniel is also an aspiring UFL defensive back hoping to make the jump from the indoor football ranks back outdoors with the spring league. He is used to having to prove himself after coming out of high school as a 3-Star Recruit and beginning his college career at a JUCO.

Lakevias Daniel’s College Career

Coming out of high school Lakevias Daniel was regarded as a three-star prospect and wound up attending a JUCO, Jones College for two seasons to raise his stock and garner himself more attention at the Division 1 level.

Playing in 21 games for Jones Lakevias Daniel managed 25 tackles, 2 for a loss, 1 sack, 7 pass deflections, 4 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery, and 1 touchdown. The 6’0 175 pound sophomore had done enough to put his name on the map.

Lakevias Daniel’s play at this time showed he belonged at the next level and he began to receive offers from several big-name programs like; Ole Miss, Louisville, Indiana Tennessee, and West Virginia. He chose Ole Miss moving on to a new school in 2020 during a tough year for every college program. He played in 5 games logging 3 tackles as a reserve defensive back, also seeing time on special teams.

Looking to play more than he had at Ole Miss in 2020 he transferred to Southern Mississippi. Staying close to home once again. Over his final two seasons of college, he played in another 21 games for Southern Miss. Given a chance to play immediately, his stats were better than what he was able to do at the JUCO level.

44 tackles, 3 for a loss, 6 pass deflections, and 3 interceptions including this play:

Following the 2022 season, Lakevias Daniel declared for the NFL draft in hopes of finding an opportunity at the highest level. Unfortunately, he did not find immediate interest from the NFL, but that did not deter him from playing professional football. Since leaving college he has gone on to sign contracts with the Iowa Barnstormers, Tucson Sugar Skulls, and Green Bay Blizzard of the Indoor Football League, as well as the Rapid City Marshals of the CIF/AFL.

After beginning the 2024 season by originally signing with the Tucson Sugar Skulls, he found AFL interest with the Rapid City Marshals opting to instead play for the Marshals.

Unfortunately, Rapid City was forced to cease operations due to a lack of league support and he was left looking for a home. Luckily Green Bay needed some defensive help and signed Daniel.

He made an early impact for the Blizzard playing in 2 games he logged 2 tackles, and this interception that came two days after his signing was announced:

The second of his games came against a team that liked what they saw. Just 6 days after his second game in Green Bay, he was traded to the Iowa Barnstormers.

With Iowa Lakevias Daniel did not immediately see the field. Daniel is searching for a UFL opportunity and honestly could be a better fit outdoors than he is indoors. He may need to look at playing in Europe, or Germany to get some current outdoor film for the UFL to evaluate before making the move to the largest spring football league in America.
