The uniforms changed again in 1920, simplifying the look and changing the logo to a stylized “B.” Graphics in this section by Mark Okkonen.

Pinstripes are added to the home look in 1924.

The road look is changed to have pinstripes and a wordmark that reads “Braves” in 1925.

The home look follows suit in 1927. The team also changes to blue hats in 1928.

Back to red and white (1929-1935)

The Braves changed their colors and look to more closely resemble their original uniforms. The wordmark also features their logo in the center on the uniform. From 1929 to 1930, the team also had their logo on the back of the jersey. Hats would change to white in 1933, and blue in 1934-35. Graphic by Mark Okkonen.

The time the Braves were actually the Bees (1936-1945)

The Braves made the unpopular descision to change their team name to the Bees in 1936, changing their uniforms to feature more blue and yellow. Graphics in this section by Mark Okkonen.

The Bees slightly updated their look in 1938, with an old English “B” on the home uniform. This design would not last beyond 1939.

1939 saw a brief return to the red color Braves fans were accustomed to, but this team was still the Bees and had navy in the uniform.

The Bees updated their look once again in 1940, adding an old English “B” to the home, and changing the colors to be blue and white. Red stayed as a sock color. Graphic by Mark Okkonen.

The Bees updated their script in 1941, coinciding with an official name change back to Braves, and this design would stick until 1945. Graphic by Mark Okkonen.

And the 1945 version of their look featured some familiar imagery. Braves text on a pinstriped home uniform returned, and a Native American head logo returned to the sleeves. Graphic by Mark Okkonen.

The First Tomahawk jerseys (1946-1962)

A new design direction (1972-1975)

The Braves went in a completely different direction in 1972, abandoning their traditional design in favor of a radical design featuring contrasting shoulders with a feather on the side. They also ditched the gray set in favor of a blue set.

Braves change the set again (1976-1980)

Atlanta goes powder blue (1980-1986)

The Braves made another drastic change in 1980, revamping both the home and away looks. The home set simplifies and features some red and blue striping. The road set becomes powder blue and ditched red entirely. Graphic by Mark Okkonen.

As seen here, in 1981 the wordmark changes to feature an uppercase “A” instead of a lowercase.

The current era (1987-pres.)

The Braves updated their set in 1987, and haven’t made any drastic changes since. These are similar to the “tomahawk” jerseys worn earlier by the team. Graphic created by Sportslogos.net

In 2005, the braves unveiled their first true alternate jersey. This version was worn until 2012.

In 2008, the Braves unveiled a blue road alternate jersey. This version was worn until 2012, with minor changes coming the next year.

The 2012 update featured a changed stripe to the pants, with no red anywhere on the uniform. They would keep this look until the 2019 season.

From 2012 until 2021, the Braves wore the “Sunday cream” jersey every Sunday home game. It was on a hiatus in 2020, and was retired after the 2021 season.

The Braves added the red jersey back to the regular rotation in the 2019 uniform updates. While it technically never left, the version from 2012-2019 was worn very sparingly and not regularly and is displayed in the special uniforms section as a result.

The Braves also updated their blue uniform in 2019, adding color and piping to the jersey. This version was worn until the 2024 season.

The Braves unveiled some minor changes to the blue set in 2024, changing the piping color to be red. The red hats pictured were only for spring training, the normal road caps are worn instead.

Other Uniforms

City Connect (2023-pres)

Los Bravos jerseys (2017-2023)

The Braves used jerseys that read “Los Bravos” to celebrate Hispanic Heritage from 2017 to 2023.

Patriotic Jerseys (2014-2018)

The Braves updated their red jerseys in 2014 by adding stripes to the script. The jerseys were designed to be especially patriotic. They were worn as an alternate, but mostly saw use around July 4th.

Throwback to the Negro League jerseys (2013)

In 2013, the Braves honored the Negro Leagues by wearing these throwback jerseys in both a home and a road game. These Sportslogos.net graphics showcase the uniforms in great detail.

In 1998, both the Atlanta Braves and Milwaukee Brewers decided to run a promotional game when Atlanta played in their old home of Milwaukee. This page in Game Worn Guides, another excellent resource for MLB uniform history, showcases the official throwback jersey and the details of the “Braves vs Braves” game.

Nickname jerseys (1976)

In 1976, Ted Turner and the Braves decided to allow players to wear nicknames on their home jerseys for the season. However, the promotion didn’t make it through July that year.
