New York Jets QB Zach Wilson against the Denver Broncos

Usually when someone says the word, ” New York Jets”, you think of a poor and terrible team. But what recently has been going on with the Jets? What is turning the franchise into a good team again? How long can they keep this up? All these questions and more will be reviewed right here on Shady Sports Network.

History of Ineptitude

Ever since 2016 the New York Jets have been arguably the worst team in the NFL statistic wise. The last big year for the Jets was back in the year 2010 with an 11-5 record but fell short in the Conference Championship with head coach Rex Ryan. Ever since 2016 the Jets have been either last in the division, or had a losing record. But surprisingly, the Jets have been seen as a pretty good team this year. As shocking as it seems, the New York Jets are 5-2 and are 2nd in their division, behind the powerhouse, Buffalo Bills. So what is causing the big uproar in New York?

Surprisingly enough, the Jets are slowly coming together and putting together a pretty good team. With the addition of RB Breece Hall and WR Garret Wilson and not to mention CB Sauce Gardner and some others. During the 2022 NFL Draft the Jets seemingly buckled down and drafted amazing young talent at key positions every team should have. Not to mention head coach Robert Saleh, who in reality, isn’t a bad coach at all. In fact, ESPN had Saleh ranked as one the higher coaches, noting his aggressiveness on 4th downs that makes him stand out.

Keys to Victory

So, what exactly have been the keys to the Jets successful season so far? For starters, the Jets pass rush ability has been phenomenal and is arguably one of the best in the NFL so far. A key player responsible for this is DL Quinnen Williams. He has been dominant and the Jets’ best source of pressure. Williams was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 6. He has 5 sacks – tied for 11th most – and 11 QB hits. We cannot forget his stellar game against the Green Bay Packers. (5 tackles, 3 sacks, 3 QB hits, 2 TFLs, a forced fumble and a blocked field goal.)

Not to mention the Jets offensive powerhouse, WR Garret Wilson. More specifically so in the improbable 31-30 comeback victory over the Browns in Cleveland, where he caught eight passes for 102 yards and two touchdowns. Not to mention one was the lightning speed 15 yard catch and run TD with only 22 seconds left of the game. Besides Zach Wilson’s better ability now that he is more comfortable since his Rookie year, the WR tops as one of the key stars in the Jets success.

High Hopes in the Meadowlands

So what does that mean for the Jets now? Well, as many saw the stellar 16-9 game vs the Broncos most recently, its hard to tell. But from what we know here, the Jets have high hopes, and rightfully so, to become one of the better teams this season.
