2023 XFL WEEK1: EXPERT PREDICTIONS

Welcome back XFL Fans! The opening kickoff of the 2023 season is just days away, and it’s time to calculate the XFL Predictions and Power Rankings for Week 1. @TheBrysh Power Rankings (PR’s) are calculated using a proprietary algorithm, @TheBrysh Power Rankings are also used to calculate weekly predictions. The 2020 season saw @TheBrysh struggling to reach 60% on straight up wins, but as the weeks progress, the numbers get dialled in and the predictions become even more accurate. Point spreads are courtesy of Betus.com and are accurate at the time of writing.

XFL WEEK 1: POWER RANKINGS

With the interruption of the 2020 season causing a 2 year gap in XFL Football action, evaluating the teams has been a challenging endeavour. Rosters and coaching staffs have changed, as well as some of the locales and with a new ownership involving Dwayne Johnson and Dany Garcia, this league will have a completely new look and feel. With subjective information gathered from the QB and Supplemental Draft, various talent combines and assessments by experts, @TheBrysh presents the Week 1 XFL Power Rankings.

Predictions for all XFL games this week, and Power Rankings for all 8 teams. Includes narrative summaries, recap from the previous weeks action and graphics.

SATURDAY GAMES

Vegas Vipers @ Arlington Renegades(-2) Vipers Rod Woodson gets his head coaching debut, following an HOF playing career and a long time gig as a sports analyst for NFL Network and Big Ten Network, can he turn this into a winning season? Arlington has the looks of a balanced offense littered with experience, if they control the football they can take the victory. I’m looking for an aggressive game here with early pressure, @TheBrysh takes the Renegades 36-31.

Orlando Guardians(-0.5) @ Houston Roughnecks There is an interesting coaching matchup here with Wade Phillips and Terrell Buckley at the helm for Houston and Orlando respectively. The Guardians have a double threat at WR with Cody Latimer and Eli Rodgers, Houston will have to watch for them. For @TheBrysh the game changer will likely be Roughnecks RB Max Borghi, he should pick up 100+ and lead to an UPSET, Roughnecks 33-21.

SUNDAY GAMES

Seattle Sea Dragons @ DC Defenders(-2) The oddsmakers have determined that the Defenders have the edge in this matchup, likely because they are expected to be ultra-aggressive defensively. Offensively, DC looks to have a balanced offence and we will have to wait and see how it stacks up against Seattle’s defence. In the end, it looks like Seattle will have an explosive passing offense, relying on multiple targets which should give them the UPSET, Sea Dragons win 28-25.

St. Louis Battlehawks(-2.5) @ San Antonio Brahmas Another paramount coaching debut is offered up by the Brahmas with Hines Ward, I see him keying in on a strong passing game. XFL co-owner, Dwayne Johnson, is expected to make an appearance which should give the Brahmas a showtime boost. Apparently, St. Louis’ offensive line is a work in progress, but with QB’s Bruce Gradkowski and AJ McCarron @TheBrysh expects the Battlehawks to walk away with a 33-30 victory.
