USFL Week 5 Expert Predictions for all games this week, including Power Rankings and graphics. Also includes a recap of last week's action and narrative stories.

SATURDAY GAMES

Pittsburgh Maulers @ Michigan Panthers(-3.5) Both of these teams are struggling after suffering losses last week, especially Michigan who in on a 2 game slide, and dropped to 8th in the @TheBrysh Power Rankings. The biggest problem for the Panthers is their instability at quarterback with Josh Love and Carson Strong wavering at the helm. The Maulers seem to have found a great fit at QB with former Canadian Football Leaguer, and double threat, Troy Williams who will help his team to an UPSET win 22-21.

Houston Gamblers @ Birmingham Stallions(-4.5) Birmingham holds a 3-1 record this season, and has occupied the top position in the Power Rankings since Week 1. The Gamblers were the only team in the USFL to beat the Stallions in 2022, but that was with QB Kenji Bahar, who has been lost to injury. Although Birmingham has several questionable players for Week 5, like QB J’Mar Smith and LB Scooby Wright, @TheBrysh looks for an easy Stallions win 26-17.

SUNDAY GAMES

N.J. Generals(-6.5) @ Philadelphia Stars Philadelphia QB Case Cookus has had a rough start to 2023, his offensive line has left him to fend for himself on too many occasions. The Stars also have troubles on defence, where they lead the USFL in rushing yards allowed, and Generals RB Darius Victor is averaging 7.1 yards per carry. @TheBrysh expects the Stars offence to sputter from the start, while the Generals establish a running game and cruise to a 28-18 victory.

Memphis Showboats @ N.O. Breakers(-7) The 4-0 Breakers are the only undefeated team left in the USFL, and are heavily favoured to take the win this week against the 1-3 Showboats. New Orleans is another team that has found offensive success behind a Canadian Football League star, QB McLeod Bethel-Thompson. Memphis may have broken the winless streak and climbed out of the Power Ranking’s basement, but they can’t compete with the Breakers firepower, and will be “doubled up” by Bethel-Thompson and crew 24-12.
