The AFL has gotten off to a hot start, if by hot you mean hot garbage. Lee Hutton made promises he couldn’t keep and set teams up for failure knowing he couldn’t provide anything he was promising.
One by one like dominos the benefits teams saw to joining the Arena Football League slowly fell by the wayside. First it was the promise of a partnership with an airline that fell apart. Then it was the hotel partner that was expected to dramatically lower costs for away games. Then when week one came the biggest failure of them all; player salary subsidies that were supposed to be paid never showed up.
Hutton and company essentially sent these modern day warriors to battle knowing there was no way they could survive. He starved out established teams, and watched as teams took irreparable damage from his actions or lack there of. Steven Titus was one of many team owners that took a stand, and we had him on to speak about the new formation of the AFL under Jeff Fisher after three horrid weeks under Lee Hutton.
