Some guys, no matter the position or place, just want to get on the field and play. That couldn’t be more true for the 6’3” 320-pound Offensive Lineman, Robbie Malcom. We got a chance to sit down and talk to the recently signed Northern Arizona Wrangler. We got a few insights on Robbie Malcom’s journey to the top level of Indoor Football for the 2026 season.
Complete with bumps in the road including being cut, dealing with doubts creeping in, and then signing a contract with the Corpus Christi Tritons mid-way through the 2025 season. A rough season for the Tritons, but one that gave Robbie Malcom the chance to finish out the season on the field and gather enough film to find more chances elsewhere in the future.

Before Arena Ball
Robbie Malcom started his playing career at Santa Fe Trail High School, then at Topeka West for the final three years. In his time there, he would show out as a solid all-around offensive Lineman. One thing that became a theme during our conversation was his willingness to play wherever it would help his team.
Robbie Malcom’s college career would start at Concordia Chicago. One solid year at Concordia Chicago would allow him to transfer to NAIA Sterling. He would then spend his last three and a half years with the Warriors. Once again jumping around to any spot on the line his team needed him.
Robbie assumed, like most lower division players, that his career was over once he left the college ranks but wasn’t quite ready for it to be over. The dream still burned, and he would attend the Pro Hunt showcase in Florida. We can only assume he showed out, because shortly after he was getting a call from former Beef Coach, Mike Tatum. Before long he was signing Robbie Malcom on his first professional football contract.
Going Pro
He would make it through several games with the Beef after being signed in January of 2025, even starting in the preseason and the Beaumont game. The relationship with the Beef would come to a disappointing end, as he was released. Thinking this was going to be the end of his playing days, he would wait for a phone call, and ultimately one came!
The Corpus Christi Tritons (post-fallout) would call and give him an opportunity. One he wouldn’t waste. Once again the name Robbie Malcom appeared on a professional contract, this time in the AF1. The Tritons wouldn’t have the overall talent to compete down the stretch, but #55 would be a bright spot.

Through his time in the NAL and AF1 in 2025, he would have fewer than five overall penalties, and allow fewer than 3 sacks on more than 100 pass attempts. A stat line that very few linemen in the indoor game can claim.
On a side note, he mentioned watching the Kansas Coyotes, Topeka Tropics, and Omaha Beef during his younger years. He thought highly of the Beef but never imagined he would suit up for them!
So what’s next for the rising star?
Well to start he has already signed with the Northern Arizona Wranglers for the 2026 IFL season. We found it pretty unique for an OL to make it through the big three in a little over a season. He has a high standard for himself and wants to start as many games as possible, if not all of them.
While Robbie Malcom is focused on the present, he has also planned for a future after his playing days. Serving as a student assistant coach with his Alma Mater getting his feet wet in the coaching ranks, something that could come in handy when it comes time to hang up the cleats.
He enjoys the exposure the IFL has and dreams of one day making it even further. If you enjoy watching players grow and flourish in a league that is built for just that then look for Robbie Malcom this spring, he might just be a huge part of the resurgence of the Wranglers!
