This past week, we got just one game: the rework that landed the brand-new AIF franchise Central New York in Muskegon. Similar to the game week, we will rework how AARD is done.
We will still have a normal game preview for the upcoming week, but instead of a ton of recent news, this article will have a part B that comes out during or just after the weekend. Why the change? Well because we are going to have the privilege of sitting down and talking shop with Mike Thorson, the owner of the Cedar Rapids Titans!

American Indoor Football Breakdowns
West Michigan 70 CNY 12
Central New York showed up looking like an entirely different team. The OL had size, the snaps were on target, and things seemed competitive. We’ll at least until the second play of the game, when the Blue Devils’ starting QB AJ Macomber went down.
From that point, the inexperienced backup did all he could, but the bone-crushing defense for West Michigan was entirely too much. He had a bit of a “throw it up and pray method” that wouldn’t work until they were well past seeing the Ironmen back-ups enter the game.CNY would go on to score two “trash time” TDs against said backs. The first ended with a failed two-point conversion ending in two points for West Michigan on a scoop and score.
Then followed up by a kickoff return for a touchdown. This game wasn’t good, but it didn’t teach us two things:
CNY, with an arena can make it in the AIF. If the plans they have for going full-time next year are met, they could add balance against anyone not named West Michigan
Fans will show up in Muskegon, despite the blowouts and odd, early schedule this season they had 3500 fans in the stands against CNY
Overall, it was a football game, but not much beyond that point, we even got a look at #69 for West Michigan who wore an OL number, but scored twice rushing the ball, and even handled kick-offs!

Original Thoughts
Wyoming @ Cedar Rapids (-34.5)
This won’t be as close as we anticipated in the preseason. Wyoming has had its fair share of issues since the first and only game against CNY. The opposite has happened for Cedar Rapids. They come into this game off of a thrashing by West Michigan, which saw several injuries ultimately leading to the lopsided 59-7 loss.
The other side of this is Wyoming and its ability to travel well. We aren’t entirely sure that it will be a full roster when they take the field against the Titans. We have seen several Cavarly players sign to teams and leagues that aren’t the AIF recently and it has to make you wonder what the “Wallless Cavalry” really has to offer when they take the field.
We think this one will be a good, sound beating by the home squad. Expect a few new faces for the Titans as well. They brought in a couple of new guys to fill in for capable but injured players. CJ Leggett should run wild on the Cavalry.

Reflection on tbe Mess
I apologize for getting this one out late, but considering we have already seen the mess made by the second half fight, we will go ahead and address it. The game itself ended 14-12 in favor of Wyoming but that isn’t the takeaway. There is no excuse for the ignorance we saw come out of this game. The overall image of the league, teams, coaches, and players is always tarnished when you see games ended due to a game-ending brawl. We will include a statement from Commissioner Foster in the next AARD

Not a ton has come out of the AIF lately as we all wait to see how the changes progress. The goal for the season is to get to the end fully intact and build for the future!
