This Saturday, we have not one but two USFL guests from the Philadelphia Stars. Both of which reside on the defense. In 2022, an underrated aspect of the Stars success were these two men. Adam Rodriguez, and Channing Stribling. If they hadn’t performed the way they did, I am quite certain the Stars don’t make the championship game.
Adam Rodriquez is a smaller pass rusher, that relys on speed and quickness to penetrate the backfield and bring down opposing ball carriers. By Season’s end, A Rod had 9 sacks, and was second in the league, behind only Chris Odom who signed with the NFL. Rodriguez would go on to receive just one NFL try-out despite his performance.
Channing Stribling led the league in interceptions and it wasn’t even close. Despite injuries preventing from playing in a handful of games, Stribling still managed to intercept a pass every game he was healthy. This is an unbelievable stat line. Stribling was then drafted by the XFL’s St. Louis Battlehawks, before he decided to return to the USFL in 2023.
