WEEK 1: RECAP

SATURDAY GAMES
Houston Gamblers @ New Orleans Breakers(-5.5) New Orleans will be looking to continue their winning ways in Week 2, which seems very plausible under the leadership of, former CFL QB, McLeod Bethel-Thompson. The Gamblers defence might be struggling this year, giving up 29 points in Week 1, and due to the loss of several key players to the XFL. If Houston fails to control QB Sacks and turnovers on offence this game should be an easy win for the Breakers 21-12.

Memphis Showboats @ Birmingham Stallions(-7.5) The Showboats failed to capitalise on a home field advantage last week in Memphis, and now face the defending Champion Stallions in Birmingham. The Stallions appear to be carrying on with their championship calibre of play from last year, forcing turnovers and controlling the Red Zone in Week 1. Birmingham undoubtedly has the strongest roster in the USFL, and should have no trouble dispatching the Showboats 26-13.

SUNDAY GAMES
New Jersey Generals(-2.5) @ Pittsburgh Maulers Fans from Pittsburgh were hopeful at the beginning of the 2023 season, believing that their revamped defence would lead them to many victories, we have yet to see this. And if the Maulers’ defence wasn’t bad enough, their offence has neither ability to rush nor pass the Ball. The Generals suffered a set back last week against the defending Champion Stallions, but will return to 2022 form with a 25-14 blowout against the Maulers.

Michigan Panthers @ Philadelphia Stars(-3) This matchup has the endorsement for Game of the Week from @TheBrysh, featuring 2 teams with the potential to light up the scoreboard with high-flying, passing efficiency. Panthers QB Josh Love, took honours last week as the USFL’s Offensive Player of the week, while the Stars QB Case Cookus wasn’t far behind. The deciding factor in this upcoming shootout will be which team’s defence steps up their game, I’m going with the Stars in a nail-biter, 30-28.
