Welcome back USFL Fans! Week 2 of the 2023 season is behind us, and it’s time to calculate the USFL Predictions for Week 3. @TheBrysh Power Rankings (PR’s) are calculated using a proprietary algorithm, @TheBrysh Power Rankings are also used to calculate weekly predictions. USFL WEEK 2: RECAP
USFL Week 2 action left us with 3 undefeated teams with 2-0 records: Michigan Panthers; Birmingham Stallions; and New Orleans Breakers. We also have 3 winless teams in the league with 0-2 records: Pittsburgh Maulers; Houston Gamblers; and Memphis Showboats. Two games are guaranteed to end at least 2 of those streaks: Breakers @ Stallions; and Showboats @ Gamblers. The consensus for the BEST and the WORST in the USFL may be answered after Week 3.

SATURDAY GAMES
New Orleans Breakers @ Birmingham Stallions(-6) The defending champion Stallions look almost unbeatable so far this season, with an undefeated record, and outscoring their opponents by almost 30 points per game. One thing stands in the way of Birmingham’s streak, a passing machine from the Canadian Football League named McLeod Bethel-Thompson. The Breakers CFL quarterback will certainly test the Stallions’ defence, but @TheBrysh predicts the inevitable, a Stallions victory 27-16.

Memphis Showboats @ Houston Gamblers(-3) This promises to be an interesting matchup, between 2 teams that have failed to display something resembling a defence, they have both allowed almost 35 points per game. With neither of these team offering up any offensive promise either, it seems that this game may come down to, “which squad is more prepared?”. Aside from some unforeseen blips, and lucky or un-lucky bounces, look for a slow moving and low-scoring game with the Gamblers coming out on top 16-13.

SUNDAY GAMES
Pittsburgh Maulers @ Philadelphia Stars(-6.5) Prior to the start of the 2023 season, @TheBrysh had predicted Philadelphia to be the offensive powerhouse of the USFL, they have not backed that up so far. Analysts have identified offensive line weaknesses as contributing to a lack of pass protection for QB Case Cookus. The Maulers do not look to be any serious threat offensively (á la 2022), so you can count on them remaining winless after delivering a relatively easy 27-19 victory to the Stars.

New Jersey Generals @ Michigan Panthers(4.5) The battle of the North, between the 1-1 Generals and the undefeated Panthers, is officially designated as the “Game of the Week” by @TheBrysh. RB’s Reggie Corbin and Darius Victor, Michigan and New Jersey respectively, are tied for the league lead in rushing so far this season. The Panthers definitely have an edge in the passing game with QB Josh Love, which should be enough to deliver them their third win, a nail-biting 26-24 over the Generals.
