The Indoor Football League is back, and with a whole week of games in week 2. With Frisco and expansion Tulsa facing off in this Friday night showdown. Billy Back and his Tj Edwards led-Frisco Fighters will try and defend their home field against the newest members of the Indoor Football League, the Tulsa Oilers. The Oilers will be led by Marvin Jones former New York Jets linebacker and Omaha Beef head coach. He was able to build his roster from the ground up in his image, and it sounds like QB Gio Sanders will get the first chance to start for the franchise in week 2.
Kicking off Saturday’s action will be the Duke City Gladiators who will travel to Northern Arizona to face the defending IFL champion Wranglers in their house. With an all-new quarterback room, in NAZ, and many returning veterans for Duke City this match-up could go either way, and the home-field advantage NAZ has could be negated by the chemistry the Gladiators have built over the years between 2021 IFL OPOY Nate Davis and his receivers.
Next up an hour later, Iowa travels to Vegas to play the Knighthawks. Led by new quarterback Daquan Neal who had a stint with the USFL’s New Jersey Generals, the Knighthawks will try and show they can compete for a championship in year two. As for Iowa, Darius James Peterson returns as one of the better quarterbacks in the league. The coaching match-up could be the best part of this game with Mike Davis of Vegas matching his wits with Dave Mogensen one of the men who helped build the 2021 NAL champion Albany Empire.
To start Sunday’s slate of games, the Green Bay Blizzard will travel to Massachusetts to take on the Pirates. Led by Alejandro Bennifield after Cardale Jones decided to refuse to report, the Pirates look to win their home opener against the Blizzard who lost in a blowout to the Fighters in week one. With their two-quarterback system, the Blizzard struggled to keep up with the high-flying Fighter’s offense, will they struggle with the Pirates whose cannon is ready and waiting to shred the Blizzard defense?
